WHY SHOULD BOYS HAVE ALL THE FUN ??!!
Women being considered as inferior to men has been the most common problem of society for the longest period of time. Decades and even centuries ago, women faced the most unbelievable situations in forms of gender discrimination. Today such problems still seem to be existant in our society. We as women have all the rights to be treated equally as part of our birth right!
Women in india have faced several problems and have been tortured in several ways. They have endured a lot since time immemorial. I think its time we got our equal rights! We have been fighting for it for so long and by the looks of things, the battle is being lost by us and the most saddening part is we can do nothing about it. How much ever we try to prove to the society that we are strong and we can do better than men in their own field, we are remorsefully still looked down upon!

In the early vedic age women as well as the later vedic age, centuries ago, women underwent drastic changes in their lifestyles, social comfort and enjoyment of basic rights! The early vedic period had certain restrictions for women but they were also given equal freedom as men in terms of social mobility, education and worshipping god! During and after the transition from the early to the later vedic age took place, women seemed to lose count of the number of restrictions imposed onto them! they were shocked by the fact that they had been denied education, they had to marry whoever they were asked to and the only job given to them was to cook for their family and do all the house work. This was a the first drastic change that took place in the lives of women as a whole.
As years went by, there were more and more restrictions introduced, each differing from caste to caste! If we found the prohibition of sacrificial rites such as sati unfair to certain castes, we would be more shocked as we got to know the other unfair rules and regulations that women were forced on women!
We all know about the recent news that women wearing skimpy clothes in public is made a big issue off late. Yes, it is wrong for women to expose their skin and cross limits when it comes to dress codes but the whole fact about them not being allowed to wear what they want and also the fact that the cops are alloted to keep a constant check on them is a little too overboard, dont you think?? Rules which make sense could be implemented, but some men seem to make the situation more chaotic for themselves and people around them.
After the mangalore incident, women are now restricted from going to pubs in certain areas! Schools and colleges had a walkathon and every student had to walk the whole area aroud their respective colleges holding banners that talk for women. Some of the banners read : "WE WANT EQUALITY!" "WE WOMEN DESERVE EQUAL RIGHTS!" "UPLIFT HUMAN DIGNITY" & "WOMEN DESERVE FREEDOM" !! As the walkathon proceeded, college girls walked along the lanes in a long straight line singing the song "hum hoge kamyab" and "we shall overcome someday"!!
This incident during the walkathon was one of my personal experinces! As we women shouted out for our freedom, one passerby on a bike sreemed back "cover your bodies girls!".
Such are the mentalities of men even today. Mnay other examples could be taken into consideration if a group of women were asked to talk about this particular issue of concern!
Men, even today consider themselves way more superior than women!
As times have changed over centuries, women these days are definately more aware of their surroundings and take precautions to maintain their self dignity in all aspects. There has been a drastic change in the lives of many fearless and strong women. We have definately shown a huge improvement to the society that we can do much more than men as long as their mothers who are women gave birth to them! Hence the reason for their presence today is a WOMAN!
On the other hand, there are some men who totally respect women and fight for heir rights as well! We cant be prejudiced and say that all men are the same and they all discriminate! In public buses, you may often find a man who fights with another man as he sits in the ladies seat and lets an old lady stand while the bus moves! But unfortunately, the man who is wrong will mostly be suppoted by a hundered more and the good amn is let down and he loses the fight!
The battle will still go on.........
Today, we find many women who ahev excelled in various fields such as art, medicine, sports, business, politics, etc. For example, our country's very own president, Prathibha Patel is a woman n this makes us very proud!
As women, we all sure do hope that the freedom that was distributed to all Indians and Pakistanis in 1947 is shared equally by both genders!
